Softball in Schools

Sporting Schools Information- Click here

Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities. Sporting Schools programs are provided free to children and their families to help students build the confidence and capability to be active for life.

The Australian Sports Commission has partnered with more than 40 national sporting organisations (NSOs) and national sporting organisations for people with disability (NSODs). By bringing sports, schools, and community organisations together, Sporting Schools aims to increase children’s participation in sport and to connect with local sporting clubs in their community.

Softball Queensland Inc is a registered Sporting Schools provider and can support school sporting programmes by providing registered coaches to deliver softball to primary school students across Queensland.

By focusing on having fun, having a go and getting active, research shows that quality sport and physical activity in schools has a positive influence on children’s confidence, competence and motivation to be active at school and throughout their life. Sporting Schools will provide children with positive sporting experiences to help foster a lifelong interest in sport.

School Pathway Program

Softball Queensland supports the delivery of Softball throughout schools in Queensland through the Softball School Pathways Program. This program is able to be delivered by:

  • Softball Queensland (a charge will apply)
  • A local club or association
  • School staff with support from Softball Queensland

The School Pathway Program conducted by Softball Queensland offers structured sessions delivered by a Softball QLD representative. The program is developed to meet the needs of each school and can be delivered for one day or up to 8 weeks.

Where a local club or association delivers the program, all arrangements are made directly between the club/association and the school. Softball Queensland supports the club/association by providing the lesson plans written specifically for each school and covering the cost of Professional Indemnity insurance for the coach.

Schools which elect to deliver an internal program are offered free resources to assist the staff delivering the program and professional development opportunities.

If your school would like to deliver an internal program contact do@softballqld.asn.au or 3391 2447
